The Goal: Master the Tidal Tempo
Build Water Discipline & Salt Resilience. NSW beaches vary from calm harbour coves to heavy ocean swells. Our mission is to transition your dog from backyard grass to salt-spray by mastering two critical skills:
-
Tidal Awareness: Understanding the high-tide line (especially in Sydney’s smaller coves) to avoid being cornered by the Pacific.
-
Salt Management: Preventing "salt-itch" and dehydration by ensuring fresh water is the only thing they drink.
Summary
A successful NSW beach session requires a watch and a lead.
-
Bold Rule: The Time-Share Split. Many Sydney beaches operate on a "Before 10 AM / After 4 PM" off-leash rule. Check local signage; during the middle of the day, dogs are often strictly on-leash or prohibited.
-
Leash Law: Under the Companion Animals Act, dogs must be on a fixed lead (max 2m) in all public places unless signed as off-leash.
-
Official Safety Alerts: Check Beachwatch NSW for water quality and BOM Sydney Radar.
